Breeding bulldogs is a labor of love <3
It takes four months of your life to properly raise a litter of bulldog puppies. It all starts with mama and making sure she is healthy and well fed. You have vet visits to breed, ultrasounds and sleepless nights when mama is uncomfortable and irritable. You don’t get a lot of sleep through the process and it’s a constant worry for her that all will be well. There are vitamins, special foods, Folic Acid to make sure there are no birth defects and the list is endless for the prep time for the babies. Once the babies are born it’s round the clock feedings, cleanings, burpings, and helping mama clean them. Weighing them to make sure they are gaining weight, doctor visits for vaccinations, it’s something not many people can do. If you added up all the hours in four months it would be 2880 hours, subtract the cost of the birth and follow up care at $3000, and the stud fee of $1000 and if you charged $2500 for five puppies (average size litter) then the breeder would make a grand total of $2.95 and hour. So when you’re tempted to think a breeder does this for the money? Please consider how much they really make. Also factor in that you cannot work another job while doing this. It’s a full time endeavor. Those who are brave enough to raise English Bulldog puppies deserve the respect and honor of being the ultimate “fuzzy parents”. It truly IS a labor of love.
