Keeping food dishes & water clean
All my kids get fresh filtered water from the fridge, and I change it every day. Sometimes I change it more often if it gets too slimy. Would you serve your family water in dirty glasses? If the answer is no then make sure you give your bully a clean bowl for their food and water each day. Use the large heavy stoneware crocks so they can’t pick them up and carry them off. I have many of them and just rotate them through the dishwasher. Dirty water can make them sick and it’s not worth the risk so just make it part of your daily routine to freshen up their bowl of water. If you don’t get filtered water from your fridge you can use a Brita filter pitcher. I bought mine from Costco a few years ago and I know they still carry them. You replace the inside cartridge every few months and it really does make the water taste better.
I keep a couple of locations in the house where they can get water, one in my room where they sleep and one by my desk in my office. It’s just part of my morning routine to switch out the bowls and give them fresh water to drink. With homemade food that is not dry kibble they don’t drink as much as most dogs who eat a dry diet but it’s still important to keep things clean and fresh for them. If your dog over drinks water it can be a bad thing. The sodium levels in their system can become too diluted and that can be fatal so don’t let your bulldog drink an entire bowl of water. If your dog tends to do this to excess monitor their water intake if it seems like they are over drinking all the time. They also have to pee after a long drink of water too so be mindful of this and let them out soon after a long drink of water. Some dogs do this and some don’t. Tank loved to guzzle water but Ruby sips it. So they are all different.
